Our organization uses Blackbaud eTapestry to keep track of donor and volunteer information. This includes all hours someone has volunteered as well as how much money someone has donated to our organization. From all the information we enter, we are able to pull reports to see how many hours one individual volunteered or how many volunteer hours total for the month or year. We are also able to pull reports on donors to see the overall total of what was donated for specific campaigns/fundraisers.
  • The ability to build multiple campaigns and pull reports. Along those lines, being able to de-activate any campaign you are not currently using but still be able to reactive it should you need to pull a report from it.
  • The ability to quickly pull a report to see our top donors.
  • The overall home screen - allows a user to tailor the tiles to what they specifically need to see and use on a daily basis.
  • The search capability - allows a user to enter a part of a name or business and the drop-down populates with multiple top searches. But also having the ability to pull a full list of any account with the word you entered in their name.
  • It would be great if, at the drop-downs at the top of the screen (accounts, giving, queries, reports, etc.), there was also a quick link to a video or article on what this function does and how it works. Having this would make it easier to understand and learn how to use this function quicker instead of requiring the user to go to the help area and click on multiple things to find what they are looking for. Basically, giving the user a shortcut to the help area.
  • On the back end, there is nowhere to actually view your account to see details - when the account renews (the date), how much we paid, etc. This should be readily available to a manager to see, and a user should not have to contact an account representative to get this information.
  • As a new user of the system, I don't feel like it is the most user-friendly or easiest system to navigate.
I don't feel that the system is the most user-friendly or easiest to navigate. I do wish that it was a bit easier to be able to understand a certain function or have a shortcut to the help area - instead of having to click the help button, click another button to actually go to a help page, then have to search for what you are trying to learn. On the plus side, I believe it is pretty simple to add a new account or a new entry to an existing account. And I like that you have the ability to create multiple campaigns and link that campaign to a journal entry when we have someone make a monetary donation to our organization. That allows me to pull a list to see who donated to a specific event we had. As a basic system to add in accounts and keep track of simple things like volunteer hours and donations, I think that Blackbaud eTapestry works. If you are an organization that needs to have detailed information, enter multiple notes under accounts, or track more than five events per year, I don't believe that this system would be the best fit.

We use Blackbaud eTapestry in our day to day fundRaising activities. We use it to store supporter information, document donations, run queries and reports, compose and send communications and to make bank deposits. This software system supports all of our fundRaising needs in one software system.

Blackbaud eTapestry is very easy to use and is user friendly. Credit card transactions can be made seamlessly. Recording data has never been easier!

The program is also fully customizable for data fields. If you have volunteers, different affiliates, personal information or anything in particular you want to track, you can!
  • Easy of use for data entry
  • Simple to create queries and compound queries
  • Reports are fully customizable and can be run on or off hours
  • Auto processing of credit cards
  • Data fields are easy to populate with donor information
  • Importing and exporting of information including deposits
  • Integration with QuickBooks
  • Acknowledgement letter creation and storage
  • Would like to see a better integration with website forms. At this time, they are not as customizable as one would like.
  • Mobile giving needs to be a priority to be added seamlessly.
  • Accuracy of the email and social media finder is subpar.
  • Wealth screening cannot be trusted. Could be for the wrong person with the same name.
  • Price point for the database itself is high for small organizations and has dramatic increases.
  • Credit card and processing costs and the payment enablement fee of $600 a year is unacceptable.
Blackbaud eTapestry is a fantastic program for small organizations. The functionality is easy to use. All fields can be customized and affiliations can be created for ease of queries and reporting. It is well suited for organizations that have 10,000 records or less. If you are looking at tracking education related information, such as student information and not fundRaising related, this is not the program for you. It is strictly a fund development and fundRaising database that houses pertinent donor information versus activity tracking. Fields are customizable, and that is fantastic, depending on what you intend on doing with the information. If you are considering Blackbaud eTapestry to do social interactions, find emails and coduct wealth screenings, do not trust all the information you receive back. We found that the email and social finders were not accurate, and neither were the wealth screenings. For some constiuents it worked, but the vast majority, we were better off contacting the donor and gathering information that way.

We use Blackbaud's eTapestry on a daily basis to track and record information about our constituency. The eTapestry program is ideal for a small organization such as ours. It allows for queries and reports needed in order to conduct business. Without eTapestry, we would be lost.
  • Daily, we are entering data about our partners in mission. We use that data to create queries and to run reports. eTapestry has made our work easier.
  • Our processes are now streamlined with eTapestry. We know what we need daily, weekly, monthly, etc. and eTapestry gets the work done for us.
  • Deposits and credit card transactions are easily managed by eTapestry.
  • We conduct a lot of donor visits. It would be nice to have a mapping option to layout donors in a certain area and map out the visits, rather than us using Google.
If you are an organization with less than 10,000 constituents, eTapestry is the program for you. It is easily managed for small nonprofits and the support for technical issues is good. Blackbaud has a whole online knowledgebase and educational videos to help you learn what would be best for your organization.

Our organization collections donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations. I use Blackbaud eTapestry to track how much each person/organization donates each year. This helps us with our fundraising efforts because 1) we see how many new donors we've acquired in a given year; 2) we see how many repeat donors are committed to supporting our organization year after year; and 3) we track any one-time donors and see if there's a means to connect with them and keep them in the loop for organizational news/events. The database also lets us produce donor acknowledgement letters with in-platform templates and layouts.
  • Produces donor acknowledgement letters and allows for many templates to be saved/used.
  • Charts long-time donor histories.
  • Allows a business to have multiple point-of-contacts/addresses.
  • Interface could be more intuitive.
  • Larger font size for default text (for visually impaired.)
  • A dark screen/ night mode for light fluctuations (i.e., instead of white screen, a darker screen).
Pros: 1) Easy to make donor acknowledgement letters for old and new accounts. 2) Easy to see previous donations on an account. 3) Easy to add new donations to an account. Cons: 1) Not always intuitive (ex: difficult to pull list of donors from a specific 12-month period); learning curve to fully implement 2) Sometimes eTapestry is slow/takes a while to buffer - not always immediate results.

I use Blackbaud eTapestry for Customer Relationship Management and gift reporting primarily. I also use to log volunteer hours. It helps us log contacts and create next moves with donors and other stakeholders. It allows program managers to report their activity in a common place that is easy to access for all.
  • Journal contacts
  • Reporting monthly giving and contact activity
  • Receiving credit card gifts
  • DIY forms are difficult to understand and create
  • Reloading the page takes you out of the account you're working in
It is a good beginner solution - with the basic functions easy to find and use. For larger more complex organizations a more robust system may be needed.

I utilize Blackbaud eTapestry to manage and track donations, send thank you letters, run reports, and we also utilize DIY donation pages on our website.
  • Entering and tracking donations
  • Standard reports
  • Queries
  • Acknowledgement letters
  • Better queries/reports for more complex data queries
  • More DIY pages/online forms - make it easier to make changes and customize
  • More dynamic queries/reports for LYBUNT/SYBUNT
  • Better integration with 3rd party services
Blackbaud e-Tapestry works extremely well for managing the basics of donations. The standard queries/reports and custom queries/reports work well for the basic questions and analysis. However, for more complex data queries, creating a query and running a report can be difficult and/or impossible. It also doesn't always integrate seamlessly with 3rd party event/non-profit software, which leads to the need to enter data manually. Overall, it is a great starting point for donation management. However, it could be more innovative in queries/reports and in sending acknowledgment letters. For example, it would be great to send a thank you video to connect with donors within the software, in addition to a regular letter, but that isn't an option.

I use Blackbaud eTapestry to help create appeal letters to be emailed out to contacts. The product is useful for cataloging information and providing analytics.
  • Storing and managing donor information
  • Providing analytics
  • Managing information on contacts
  • The system isn't intuitive
  • Email templates are bulky and not easy to use
  • Limited design capabilities for email letters
Managing our contacts has been helpful. Example, if myself or a colleague meets with a contact we can record the particulars of that meeting and draw on it to build an account of our relationship with them.

Etapestry has not been well suited for creating appeal letters or emails. The design work generally needs to be done outside of the program then a lot of time gets spent trying to make that fit into a pre-existing template, or rejigging the design to suit the limited design capacity of Etapestry.

I use it for all fundraising purposes. Tracking moves management, records for donations and contacts, diy form for giving pages. This is our main database for fundraising and communication with our donors.
  • Integration with BBMS
  • Simplicity for user
  • Simple info display
  • Customer service
  • Pricing - too expensive
  • DIY forms - donor experience
Blackbaud eTapestry is fine. Useful for a new fundraiser. It leaves a lot to be desired but you can operate nicely with under 10,000 constituents

Blackbaud eTapestry is the main CRM for my mid-size nonprofit. We use it to track all donations, contacts with donors, and all reporting for the month, quarter, and year-end.
  • Robust reporting options
  • fairly customizeable
  • Horrible customer service
  • difficult to work with
  • very long response times
  • overly expensive
Blackbaud eTapestry has been nearly impossible to work with when wanting to look at cost reduction. We are currently in the process of leaving and have the process of data migration to be very painstaking to do with eTap customer services. Additionally we were locked out of our account for the five days within our contract but towards the ends making data migration actually impossible. Really put our organization in a horrible position.

Blackbaud eTapestry is the backbone of our data services. From managing donor and membership records, to maintaining accurate records and notes, eTapestry is a great product for small to mid-sized non-profit organizations. While we do not currently have eTapestry connected with any products other than Constant Contact, the ability to import information makes for an easy adjustment. We rely on this product heavily for reporting purposes and is critical to our success as an organization.
  • Import gifts and information to donor record.
  • Quickly report on various segments.
  • Communicate effectively with our support base.
  • The addition of second most recent gift as a data field, as after running an import the gift just imported is now the last gift, would be a nice addition.
  • The ability to import information into personas for quick updates during gift import would be a nice improvement.
  • It would also be nice if the ability to send a communication to an externally imported list of just emails, rather than querying on donor records.
  • The ability to have more record space without the need to purchase additional records. This will eventually cause us to outgrow eTap.
Blackbaud eTapestry is well suited for an organization of our size (mid sized) to effectively manage our donor database. Because we generate most of our mailings in-house, eTapestry makes to generation of these segmented lists easy. While there are capabilities that take time to learn, this software is fairly easy to obtain a simple mastery of. If your organization is large, with a large donor base you will not want eTapestry as there are record limitations, which can be overcome by purchasing additional records, which is a yearly (not one-time) fee.

Responsible for the daily operation of the fundraising database (eTapestry by Blackbaud), which includes keeping accurate donor records, gift entry and processing, gift acknowledgment, and reporting. Works closely with the CEO/Founder and staff to ensure that all gifts from donors and purchased curriculums are accurately processed, tracked, acknowledged, and reconciled with the finance department. Also, identify best practices and recommend procedures and solutions for database accuracy and efficiency. A key member of the organization’s staff, responsible for organizing and managing all aspects of donor records. In addition, I create and send out our newsletters, flyers for special events, and provide reports for the CEO & Founder of the organization.
  • Allows to design documents to fit the needs of the organization.
  • Ability to correct any information as needed.
  • Ability to merge information when it duplicated.
  • Having the ability to cut and paste from an outside source and pasting on onto a document in eTapestry.
  • Having the ability to see an document previously sent from an individual account.
For this organization, which is still growing, eTapestry is perfect for our current needs. As stated in the previous statement, eTapestry needs those improvements to make everyday usage easier.

We use Blackbaud eTapestry CRM to track all fund development interactions in a charitable organization. This includes financial journal entries and related communications for all donations, pledges, sponsorships, planned gifts, and grants. We also use Blackbaud eTapestry to link our website donation, volunteer and event forms to the database. We use the query feature to search for information, manage event guest lists, create reports, and create mass emails or letters and receipts. We can track grant status as well. It has been less useful for moves management of prospects than we would like. Outlook integration is useful.
  • Easy search capabilities
  • Improved DIY web forms easy to use
  • Great standard reports and easy DIY queries
  • Easy to handle pledges, upgrade, and reporting to donors on these
  • Moves Management integration is not useful. Needs better prospects tracking
  • Would like a better way to track cultivation visits, tours, and stewardship. Hard to customize event tracking lists
  • Should declutter journal by keeping financial and contact details separate
  • User defined fields are great, but should have the ability to permanently delete unused fields
  • Complex compound queries are not always supported by the system
We find the system works well for a small to medium shop. Easy to handle, quick and customizes well. Generates basic reports well. Auto processing and scheduling is also smooth and easy. Emails can look like spam in some systems. Tracking prospects via moves management and integration with Outlook, especially calendars, could be improved.

We use Blackbaud eTapestry as a CRM, fundraising mechanism, and reporting system. It helps us communicate with donors, run a variety of reports (one-off and/or regularly scheduled), and keep track of donations for various projects (we have about 45 on the go at the moment). It also allows for many customizations in fields and letter templates.
  • Report Scheduling is great. Reports can be scheduled daily (even on specific days of the week), weekly, or monthly) and auto-emailed.
  • Reports can be displayed on the screen, downloaded, or emailed in CSV, excel, or pdf and can have columns pre-sorted in your preferred order.
  • Online donations are automatically added to the donor's account and automatically create an account for a new donor.
  • Having to set up queries and then set up reports can be cumbersome. There are a lot of settings to consider before you can get the details you're looking for.
  • There's no option to create copies of Standard Reports in order to customize them. Sometimes those Standard Reports have almost everything we need. It would be helpful to be able to add an extra column or two of data instead of having to start queries and reports from scratch.
  • For DIY Forms, there's currently no way to change the order that projects (known in eTap as Funds) display online, except to remove Funds one by one until you reach the spot in the list where you want them. We have about 45 Funds, and in order to add a new Fund closer to the top of the drop-down list, we have to remove most of them one by one, then add in the new Fund, then add the rest of the Funds back in one by one. Having a drag-and-drop option would be very helpful.
When we want to send a mass email to our donors and/or other contacts, Blackbaud eTapestry provides the tools to make it happen. That being said, when someone wants to unsubscribe from one of our email lists, but not all of them, eTapestry does not have a way to do that. If someone hits the Unsubscribe button, it unsubscribes them from everything. So it depends on what your needs are regarding that setting. The DIY Form settings were recently upgraded to allow us to send a different confirmation email based on whether a donor gave a one-time donation or a recurring donation. This is such a valuable option, as we previously had donors contact us to double-check that they had set up a monthly donation online, as the previous confirmation email didn't say (since that setting wasn't available). I'm not sure if the communication templates can distinguish between a monthly, weekly, or quarterly recurring donation, so we removed the weekly and quarterly options from our donation page and directly added "monthly" to the communication template.

We use it to manage donor relations, communications, and fund raising. Keeping track of where we are in relation to revenue goals for reporting to the board of directors is a common task. Making sure we stay in touch with our supporters without missing anyone is very important to us. We plan events and use eTapestry to both invite guests as well as evaluate success.
  • create reports used for managing the organization.
  • Search and find needed data quickly and easily
  • technical support has been outstanding
  • html editor is something I still struggle with, how email looks in eTapestry vs how it displays when sent
Tracking donor information and reports work well. I am new to this software and normally the only person who uses it. Others who use it on occasion are frustrated because they don't understand how to do what they want. I wonder if some of the challenges with documents I have may be that I still need more understanding. Maybe they will solve themselves as I learn. Or maybe they are just not as easy as other products. We some times create documents for email outside of eTapestry because it is easier to get what we want, then import to eTapestry as an image for a mass email.

We use it for donor services management, communication, reporting. We keep track of all donors, how much, when and for which campaign do they give. We also use it to send Mass communication emails and to contact donors individually through email. We also use it to report on our donations for Funds, Campaigns, Annual Reports and more
  • The ability to send mass emails through my level is great.
  • The ability to send individualized emails is helpful.
  • The ability to report on campaigns
  • The ability to create query's of compartmentalized findings.
  • The way mass emails are created.
  • The Creating query process can be difficult without using the Chat button.
  • Creating queries for mass mailings.
  • How you can't correct something across the board once it's loaded to the database.
  • Deleting records is difficult and not user friendly
Reporting of my campaigns TY to LY. The process to get this reporting is very easy.

Being able to send emails to our entire database or to a small specialized group of our donors.

Being able to insert personalized field's into the communications really elevates the letters we write to the donors.

Blackbaud eTapestry is the database we use to maintain information for alums and anyone connected to the school. We use it to log in donations from our benefactors, keep contact information, notes and it allows us to prepare various reports as needed.
  • Create different funds to log in donations
  • Add fields as needed to prepare accurate reports
  • Prepare letters for constituents
  • Preparing letters can be awkward at times and they don't look the way I want them to look
  • I find the Relationships tab useless. Maybe I just don't understand it.

We currently use Blackbaud eTapestry to track donations, including how the donation was received, if it is earmarked for a certain purpose, and if it is a memorial or in honor of someone. We also use it to create a variety of mailing lists: newsletters, Christmas cards, and appeals. Recently, I linked it with our Constant Contact account to have better ease of communicating with others. The reports page has also been very helpful in sorting the size of donations and if a person has or has not donated within a specific timeframe. As I am still learning the program, I do foresee using it to maintain better contact with donors by using it to generate personalized letters, either by email or paper mail. As our development department grows, we will also use it to have more specific information under accounts, such as the relationship with the monastery.
  • They have an excellent support team when help is needed via email or a chat.
  • Provide the user with standard reports which saves much time and effort on my part.
  • The interface is user-friendly for the most part.
  • Some of the language and terminology are foreign to users like me; a simple glossary of terms would be helpful.
  • Live classes/webinars are great but are very fast. A recording of those would be nice to review.
  • Sometimes I find quicker answers by googling or using Youtube than Blackbaud eTapestry's help button.
I think it is a great program and has tons of potential for my organization. It has taken me a while to learn it, as I use it at a part-time position and have had no training. Self-teaching is not always the quickest, but I do eventually learn. If you want to keep track of donors, campaigns, and donations, this makes it a much easier process than no process at all or trying to coordinate spreadsheets from different programs.

I use Blackbaud eTapestry primarily for our newsletters and thank you letters to donors. The database and personas that can be attached help us keep track of who we have been in contact with and when they have last volunteered/donated. I love the ability to add notes to a profile, but that is currently the only way I've been able to track my volunteers rather than it actually having its own tracking system.
  • Database tracking
  • Newsletter tracking
  • Mailing tracking
  • More options for newsletters: the images can't be deleted from the gallery, background images don't fill the screen
I like its ability to show how many accounts don't have email addresses or have opted out of our mailing. When printing and mailing out thank you cards, it offers the option to make a note of the contact, but since I sometimes go back and forth before officially mailing it out, it's not always accurate but could be if there was an "initiated" option and then a follow-up option that confirms the offline action was completed.

We currently use Blackbaud eTapestry to collect information on people engaged in our programs and mission. The primary use is to record and track donations through our various events and campaigns. Additionally, we use Blackbaud eTapestry to collect donations made through our website which automatically populates the Blackbaud database.
  • It collects A LOT of information from a constituent if available
  • It has the capability to accept imports of data from other collection sources (Race Roster, Constant Contact)
  • There are many types of reports that can be run depending on what is needed
  • The trainings and customer service are thorough and responsive
  • There doesn't seem to be an easy way to segment off old, outdated data and not have it be part of the current records
  • It sometimes seems overwhelming, with all of the choices and functionality. Is there a way to 'turn off certain features or reports that we know we won't ever use or that don't apply to our industry/organization?
Blackbaud eTapestry is well suited to an organization or company that has many types of users or constituents. Having a dedicated person or small team to manage the database is key. As we are finding, it is only as useful as the data put into it. Stale and irregular updates do not give an accurate picture of the organization's database. In my opinion, a small organization may be overwhelmed by Blackbaud eTapestry unless a scalable version can be crafted to suit their needs.

We use eTapestry to track our donors, corporate sponsors, funders, and the donations we receive from these groups. I run reports for our executive team to show campaign results, board contributions, grants received, grant status, and donor trends. We also use it for our DIY forms to process online donations to our organization. We also use the Blackbaud Merchants Services and receive a Disbursement Report as to the number and amounts of donations made by credit card.
  • Enables smaller organizations to have a comprehensive database that easily runs queries and reports.
  • Allows organizations to accept credit cards at a lower merchant rate without having to use additional platforms such as Paypal or Stripe.
  • Donors can be tagged to identify their interests or roles with the organization: ex. Board member, volunteer, golfer, auction donor, event sponsor, etc.
  • Tracking incoming grant processes: award letter received, reports due, sign contract.
  • Integrating eTapestry Communications with Canva would be nice.
  • Training classes that don't start at 5am on the West Coast.
Affordable for smaller nonprofits that cannot afford Raisers Edge from Blackbaud. The pricing tiers can be more suited to these smaller organizations. For example, charges are determined by how many constituents are in the database. The lowest tier is 5000 constituents. If you go over that, the next tier is at 10,000 constituents. There should be a pricing tier in between, such as 7500 constituents. That's a big jump to make for smaller organizations.

We use Blackbaud eTapestry to track charitable gifts, run reports, provide receipts and thank you notes, track contacts, electronically email constituents, receive gifts, and more. I work for a Christian school and we have a collaborative mindset/model. One problem Blackbaud eTapestry addressed for us was the fact we had numerous users spread over a geographic area. Blackbaud eTapestry has unlimited users, so we were able to get all the people who needed access, access without breaking the bank.
  • The help desk is excellent.
  • It is malleable and you can adjust this product to suit your needs.
  • It has been a very consistent product.
  • It can be very difficult to run reports.
  • The DIY pages are hard to navigate and very difficult to add pictures.
Blackbaud eTapestry is well suited for organizations that will have numerous users. We have multiple schools that work together to provide the best educational experience, and Blackbaud eTapestry keeps us organized and consistent. The greatest challenge is getting the reports you need. It can be a challenging system when it comes to reports and lists.

Our company uses Blackbaud eTapestry as our main CRM - managing accounts, donations, communications as well as child sponsorship relationships.
  • Reports
  • Robust Account Data Tracking
  • User autonomy for database management
  • In my experience, poor management of client accounts by Blackbaud - slow response time, excessive turnover in account executives, nickel, and diming requested work.
  • Updated emailing system - I feel it is antiquated, inflexible, and does not allow users to send engaging communication to donors, including video.
  • Lack of ability to do system-wide updates or changes to user-defined fields - in my opinion, it creates a messy interface after several years of use.
We have had 12 account executives at Blackbaud in the last four years and, in my experience, often must wait 2-3 weeks to receive a response from any communication sent with multiple follow-ups. Each new member must become familiar with our non-profit and the details needed before they can actually be helpful, making us rehash our entire 4-year history- I feel it's a waste of time on our part. In my experience, any work they do is $200 per hour, with absolutely no hours included in our service contract. In my experience, a random $800 fee was implemented last year for all clients outside of their contract. Our account executive at the time said there had been major pushback, but nothing could be done. Basically, in my opinion, they knew it would be more expensive for a client to hire an attorney to fight it than to just pay. I feel they have questionable ethics, and unless you are a large client for them, they really could care less about you.

Blackbaud eTapestry helps us organize and track donations, contacts, and communication with donors.
  • Highlight lapsed donors to prompt contact
  • Account pages give a quick easy to read the history of donor activity with our organization
  • Quickly responds to questions
  • Making a query and than running a report is clunky
I wouldn't dissuade someone from using Blackbaud eTapestry, but I would encourage them to fully look into other options before choosing a DMS.
